![]() ![]() Which is what led me to uploading the process pics, so that I could share the idea and hopefully inspire others to make the best of a small space. To be honest before we designed the build I actually looked around the net for inspiration or a similar execution of this idea but found nothing. Hi Everyone, I have just returned back from holiday to discover an email from Jules informing me that you have voted my PAX doors “Hack of the Year” I am really happy to be able to contribute and that you all liked them. ….and once again a big thanks to the rest of you for your kind words and support! I had NEVER done anything like this before, did not put a huge amount of effort into planning and still managed to get it right first time, so my advice is don’t overthink it, just jump Emma, thanks for listening flexluthor, The table in the living room is a version of ‘elipse’ (from MIO ) the table and chairs in the dining room (which you can see briefly in the last pic) is called FUSION and is of course from IKEA □ the chairs in the living room are ‘hand me downs’and I have unfortunaley no idea where they have come Tara, I wish you the best of Stuck in the 80s, thanks for the back up □ The top of the door is more important because the door hangs much more then it rests on the floor. I can say that it was relativley easy, just a single piece of thick wood with the ‘ikea included’ metal skirt drilled into it. I hope you can do the same in UAE, good Anon, as previously said, no wall sticker, it’s a ‘vector’ / image that I projected on to the wall, traced, then painted! give it a go, it’s a piece of Tamara, Sorry I can’t provide you with more detailed picks of the floor rail, we didn’t take any and have moved. I have a very similar living situation and apartment layout, and so I can relate to what the couple´s thinking process probably was, as I used the exact same solution Tyler, I did paint it but first traced it’s projection, I have sent you the silhouette, I hope you make good use of Jennifer D’Souza, sorry to hear that your having trouble finding just the doors, to be honest they are listed as a whole cupboard unit on the Swedish IKEA site too, we had to go in and request the price without the cupboard, it was no hassel and a lot cheaper. Also, entertaining guests in the kitchen & dining area is still possible, while the other one might want to call it a night and get some rest.Īnd in the morning, whoever gets up first can fix breakfast, do the dirty dishes, etc., sit down and eat, read the morning paper, maybe even listen to the morning radio without bothering the sleeping partner. The way this couple solved their problem is much more convenient, as they created a lot more separated rooms.įor example, at night, one person can choose to stay up longer and watch TV while the other one retires to the bedroom. I certainly wouldn´t want that on a constant basis. ![]() ![]() You´d only be disturbing the other person, walking in and out and clanging with dishes, cups etc. Just imagine one partner wanting to sleep in on a Sunday, and the other one who´s already awake would like to fix some breakfast. I don´t know about other people, but for me personally it wouldn´t have made much sense to squeeze a bedroom in there, since it would have blocked the kitchen. The dining room with the wooden floor is adjacent to the kitchen (visible doorway on the right side). The way I see it, the space we see in the front (with the grey tiles) is the entrance hall.
